Riverside Leisure Centre — Membership Information

A Riverside Leisure Centre opened on its current site in 2014, replacing an older municipal pool that had served the town since the 1970s. The centre is run by the local council but managed day-to-day by an independent leisure trust, which also operates two smaller facilities elsewhere in the borough. Riverside offers a 25-metre pool, a fitness suite, two exercise studios, and an outdoor five-a-side football pitch that can be booked separately from the main membership. B Three membership options are available. The Off-Peak membership costs £28 a month and grants access to the pool and gym only, and only outside the hours of 6am–9am and 5pm–7pm on weekdays. The Standard membership, at £42 a month, removes the time restriction and adds access to both exercise studios. The Premium membership, at £58 a month, includes everything in Standard plus two guest passes each month and free use of the football pitch, which non-Premium members must book and pay for separately. C The centre is open from 6am to 10pm on weekdays and 7am to 8pm at weekends. Members can book studio classes and pitch slots up to seven days in advance through the online booking system; walk-in access to the pool and gym does not require a booking. Guest passes must be booked at least 24 hours ahead and used by the member accompanying their guest in person — passes cannot be transferred or used by a guest alone. D Appropriate swimwear is required in the pool; wetsuits, cycling shorts and ordinary swimming trunks lined with mesh are not permitted, as the lining can clog the filtration system. Lockers are coin-operated and the coin is returned when the locker is unlocked; members are advised to bring a £1 coin, as change is not available at reception. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times, and the pool operates a family-only session on Sunday mornings from 9am to 11am, during which adults without children are not admitted. E Membership can be cancelled with 30 days' written notice, given either by email or in person at reception; notice given by phone is not accepted. Members who will be away for four weeks or longer may freeze their membership once per year for up to eight weeks, during which no monthly fee is charged. Refunds are not given for unused weeks within a normal (non-frozen) month.
