City Car Club — Membership Terms

A City Car Club gives members access to a fleet of shared cars parked at reserved bays across the city, booked by the hour or by the day through the app. Membership costs £8 a month, or £80 a year if paid annually, and includes a personal driving profile that must be approved before first use, requiring a valid licence held for at least twelve months with no more than six penalty points. B Hourly bookings start at £6 per hour for a small car and £9 per hour for a larger estate or van, both prices including fuel, insurance and up to 30 miles; each additional mile beyond that is charged at 25p. Daily bookings, covering any 24-hour period, are charged at a flat rate regardless of how many hours the car is actually used, and are usually better value for anything over six hours in one day. C Every car carries a fuel card in the glovebox, and members are expected to refuel once the tank drops below a quarter full, claiming the cost back through the app rather than paying personally; refuelling is not compulsory before returning the car, but a member who returns a car below a quarter tank without having attempted to refuel may be charged a £15 inconvenience fee. D Members are responsible for a damage excess of up to £500 for any damage caused during their booking, though this can be reduced to £100 by paying an optional £3 daily excess-reduction fee at the time of booking. Any damage, however minor, must be reported through the app before the booking ends, since damage discovered later that was not reported is assumed to be the responsible member's until proven otherwise. E Bookings can be extended through the app provided the car is not already booked by another member for the period requested; if it is, the car must be returned on time, and a late return incurs a charge of £20 for the first hour and £10 for each hour after that, in addition to any inconvenience caused to the next member being separately investigated.
